APPROVED ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Jay Hoff acquired his love for music like many of our favorite musical artists do. He stumbled upon his fathers old guitar around the age of 12 and fell in love. He was tech savvy and by the age of 15 he had developed a knack for recording his own tunes, picking up several other instruments along the way.

In high school and college, Jay performed in various bands as a vocalist and guitar player. His perseverance and talent led him to form his own group Total Astronaut (formerly Arden) which performed from 2015-2018.  During this time with Total Astronaut, Jay honed his skills as a singer, songwriter, and producer, releasing two EP’s and an album.  “Life in 3D”, “The Ghost Behind These Eyes” and “Emergence”.

Fast forward to 2022, Jay releases a series of singles in what is a dreamy culmination of both personal and musical growth for Jay Hoff.  The songs touch upon life, death, self reflection, the planet, human connection, and offer social commentary on the arts industry and the challenges independent artists face to gain favor and success.

Jay Hoff’s sound today, best described as Bedroom Pop, Alt Rock, and/or Indie Dream Pop, combines atmospheric synths, lo-fi guitar, and cascading harmonies in an effort to invoke his audience to transcend reality. Jay Hoff adamantly believes in music as a form of therapy with the ability to change an individuals perception of their journey. He creates music to do just that.
